Update...

I can't believe I've missed so much. I never seem to be able to get on blogger anymore at work. I'm actually busy! (I guess it's a good thing?) Then when i get home my husband is on the computer most of the time, or there are other projects needing to be done. by the time i finish reading everyone else's blogs I'm tired and ready for bed. Not tonight! So, here is an update of the happenings of Swedlowhood:

~Barry finally believed me when i said we need a new mattress. He laid on my side and said "You really can feel the springs! I guess we need a new mattress!" Ya THINK? So off to Craigslist.com to see if we could find a deal. I had a few trepidations about buying a mattress online, but heard you could find good deals, so i humored him. We see "whole house for sale for $1" Wha-what? Long story short, a week later we now have:
  • a 6ft solid pine dining room table with 6 chairs.
  • matching hutch
  • 2 solid bookshelves
  • computer desk
  • solid cherry wood bedroom suite that includes a four poster bed with mattress and box springs, tall dresser, dresser with mirror, and a night stand.
  • all for $550.

Yes, we stole from this poor woman. but hell, she signed the receipt! I feel like an adult with all this 'real' furniture in my house. We moved our old mattress and frame to the extra bedroom and got rid of the futon. So we actually have a spare bedroom now AND we have the computer set up so Barry now has an office! (So, the mattess sucks, but it's WAY better than the futon) We also have a decent dining table which means we can entertain guests for dinner and game night without being cramped. I'm so excited!

~I booked a flight up to Chicago to see my Grandma. She's not doing so good. She has good days and bad days, and she's had a few bad days in a row now. So, I'm going up there for presidents day with my parents. I'm excited to see her and Grandpa, and the house in the winter, but I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to her. I know she's not enjoying life right now, so i will be happy for her when she's not suffering anymore, but God, will i miss her smile and contaigous laugh.

~On a happier note: I'm going on a cruise next week! My friend Nichole's friend decided at the last minute not to go so there was an extra ticket available and VOILA! i get to go on a 7 day cruise for 1/2 the price! YAY! The stars aligned for me, because i was able to get the rover to replace me next week at work, i have the time to use, and i already had my passport! We embark on Sunday for 7 days of girls only debauchery! i can't wait!

Other than all of that, everything here is same ol', same ol'. I will definitely post pictures from the cruise and my trip to chicago when i get back. Sorry for not posting in forever... i'll try and do better. After the cruise!

Three Things to Ponder...

1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

C O W S
Isn't it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the State of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow. T H E

C O N S T I T U T I O N
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq . Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we are not using it anymore.

T H E 1 0 C O M M A N D M E N T S
The real reason that we cannot have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians . . . . It creates a hostile work environment.

(I stole this, I have to admit. I ain't that witty.)

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader?

A 5th grade word problem:

There are 7 girls on a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks. In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.

Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

There is no one else on the bus, not even the bus driver.

Let's see what you come up with!!

Oh Happy Day!

Barry and I went to Cheesecake Factory with Dave and Jen last night and of course had a yummy meal and finished it off with some cheesescake. Tonight's choice was Vanilla Bean. DEE LISHUS. A few bites to finish off the meal and the rest goes in the doggie bag for a yummy breakfast.

Well, as I was contimplating what to have for breakfast this morning on The Throne, I realized that I had my cheesecake! During the course of my dreaming last night I ate the rest of my yummy dessert so it must have been removed from my concious thought temporarily. I swear, the best ideas come to you in the bathroom. I wonder if it's the lighting.

So, i raise my fork to you, Vanilla Bean. YUM.
